Islamic Art

Every art has a meaning behind, including the Islamic Art. In order to understand the Islamic Art, we have to study about some of the history of Islam.
So, what is Islam? A teaching? A religion? Some kind of belief? Whatever you say, Islam is a monotheistic and abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an.
This religion started by a man called Muhammad, recognized as Allah's last prophet, a prophet like Abraham, Moses and Jesus.
Islam is based on the book of the Word of God - The Qur'an. They believe in only one God, Allah, who alone is the creator, sustainer and destroyer of life.

Now, lets talk about the Islamic art. Most of Islamic Art is about pattern and calligraphy!! Do you guys ever notice that ??
If you go visit a mosque, you ain't see a painting of human or animal or any sculpture, but lots of colorful, systematic and beautiful pattern.
Also if you go visit your Islam friend's house, all their house decoration is calligraphy and pattern.
Islamic Art makes great use of geometric pattern which have developed over centuries. Many of these derived from various earlier culture like Rom and Greek.
Islamic artist study the classical tradition and invent a new form of decoration which stressed unity, systematic and logic.
The basic instrument for Islamic Art is pencil, ruler and compass. The circle is the foundation for Islamic pattern and the Arabs defined it as " the geometric of the line".
Islamic pattern has some characteristics :-
1) They are made up with repeated geometrical shape.
2) They are two-dimensional.
3) They are free.
so, here comes the question?? Why they didn't do painting of human or animal?? This is because they don't draw living things unless they can give life to it.
As a conclusion, Islamic Art is very beautiful and cool, easy but complex and it contribute a lot to the society.
You can apply their technique in your design or use the Islamic art to decorate your house, this will give you a fresh new feelings.
