After I put in my reference in the 3ds max, I try to analyze it and break it into parts and shapes, then I start to model it.However I will just model half of it, then use the mirror function to finish the whole thing. I use plane to model the blade and cylinder to model all the screws.
Work all the way down, beside of plane and cylinder, I also use box to model the shank, by using function of extrude, bevel, insert, chamfer, cut, target weld, loop, ring, bridge, cap and boolean, and keep doing a lot of adjustment until I get everything done correctly.
After I finished half of the sword, I use the function of mirror to get another half, then do a bit of adjustment and attach together.
After I done the modeling, I start to do the texturing. Exploring different kind of materials to find out those I want and add it to the sword. The texturing is also done with part by part. The mostly used materials for this sword is metal and glass. Besides, I also add in the illumination effect to make the sword glowing.
After the texturing, I need to do the lighting. Type of light that I used is target light because it is more easy to control. Besides, I also make a studio plane as the footage of the sword.
After all is done, I start to render my model.
